Vespers and Benediction

Troop 39 ends its meetings with a prayer – by tradition, scouts cross arms and hold hands, the lights go out and the Senior Patrol Leader declares one of the other is said/sung:

Scout Vespers:

Sung to the tune of “Oh Tannenbaum”

Softly falls the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each scout should ask,
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done and have I dared,
Everything to be prepared?

Scoutmaster’s benediction

May the Great Scoutmaster of all Scouts
be with you till we meet again
and may will follow the trail that leads to Him.
