Traveling

  • Class B uniform for traveling to and from camp

Sleeping

  • Personal Tent
    • Tents are arranged by patrols
  • Hammocks are an alternative to a tent but scouts must ensure they protect the trees and check with the leader to make sure they are permitted for the trip
  • Sleep pad
  • Sleeping bag (3 season bag minimum)
  • Pillow
  • Sleep wear
  • Optional: light for inside the tent

Clothing

  • Appropriate clothing for the weather and environment
    • Cold: thermal underwear, layers of non-cotton (poly-cotton blends OK); woolly hat; gloves, scarf, balaclava
    • Wet:  rain jacket; rain pants
    • Heat: shorts, T-shirts, sun hat, sunglasses
    • Environment: long pants and sleeves prevent bug bites/poison ivy
  • Appropriate clothing for the activities
    • leaders will advise of any specific needs for the outing.
  • Non Cotton Layers are important

Personal Items

  • Personal hygiene items (shampoo, soap, tooth brush, toothpaste, deoderant etc.)
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Medications (give to a leader if necessary)

Equipment

  • Headlight (preferred) or flashlight is essential
  • Pocket knife (need Totin’ chip)
  • Fire lighting
    • Flint and steel/matches/lighter
    • Ziplock bag with dryer lint or cotton wool balls rubbed in vaseline to use to light the campfire
  • Personal First Aid Kit
  • Paracord (for a clothes line)
  • Folding chair
  • Backpack or Duffle bag to carry your gear
  • Scout handbook and pen/pencil
  • Trash bag for wet items
