days where our troop guides teach scouting skills to our younger members who are on the road to First Class.

upcoming events hosted in a Google calendar that is kept current by th uniformed leaders. The calendar can also be

easily used on mobile devices making it readily available whenever you need it.

Each year, Troop 39 creates an ideal opportunity for Webelo Scouts to earn the Ourdoorsman and Readyman pins and

to see how a world class scout troop operates. The scouts of troop 39 teach the webelo scouts the skills they need to earn

their pins and tell the webelos about what life is like in the troop.

#104 Summer camps

Each summer the Troop participates in a weeklong camp that provides each scout, regardless of age, an opportunity to learn and grow in a peer environment. Summer camp provides scouts the opportunity to meet others from multiple troops, with a common experience of scouting. In addition to a fun week, summer camp provides rank advancement support, camp provides learning, leadership, and camaraderie.

#103 Adult role models

Troop 39 is a scout lead troop; the scouting adult leaders are there to provide guidance and support. Most of the teaching is done by example, allowing young men the opportunity to learn from troop leaders, in addition to their parents and teachers. The troop leaders are examples in an outdoor activity focused environment.

These community service projects teach leadership and troop unity while simultaneously providing a tangible benefit to the community. Some recent projects include stream rehabilitation, public school cross country trail creation, building a tool shed for the Chapel Hill community park garden.

#96 Trail Building

This activity teaches the scouts to appreciate the work done for them by others on all of their camping activities. Troop 39 has participated in formal training and trail labor in local Eno River State Park, Philmont New Mexico, and the Mountains to Sea trail of NC.

#95 Being outdoors

Scouting focuses on being outdoors and appreciating our natural environment. By learning to live and work with nature, scouts have an elevated sense of environmental stewardship. Starting with “leave no trace”, where campers should not impact the environment and learning about plants and animals, Scouts focus on being outdoors and appreciating God’s beauty.

This annual campout fosters unity and leadership opportunities for scout led patrols to compete with each other in scout skills, metal challenges, and physical challenges.

#87 Backpacking

Recently, Troop 39 recently held high adventure backpacking trips to Linville Gorge, Philmont, Pilot Mountain, Mount Mitchell, and Stone Mountain. Older scouts take overnight routes that are challenging while younger scouts conduct day hikes in the same area. This provides challenging hikes for all, expanding scouts confidence, leadership, and success after challenge.
