When we meet

The troop generally meets weekly during the school year. Contact the leaders for more information about meeting with the troop.

Monthly outings

Each month from September to May the troop goes on an outing. Typically for these we leave on Friday evening and return on Sunday. These are usually camps, adventures such as skiing, mountain biking, sailing or climbing.

Brownsea 39

Brownsea 39 is the annual planning meeting that takes place in August. Here the scout leadership with other older scouts, plan the troop meetings and outings activity for the coming scouting year.

Summer camp

Troop 39 attends a week-long summer camp each year in June at a Council-approved camp.

High Adventure

In addition to the adventures each month, Troop 39 plans a High Adventure trip each summer.   Each 4 years, the troop traditionally goes the the World Scout Center in Kandersteg, Switzerland, twice joining our sister troop from Bristol in the United Kingdom for the British High Adventure and to one of the BSA’s High Adventure Bases such as the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Troop fees

For 2023-2024 fees are set at $300 per scout per year.

  1. My older brother Lee Kurt Holder earned Eagle in Troop 39. I began scouting in the troop as well, earning Eagle with Troop 9 in Memphis after moving from Chapel Hill.
